The music created by the Portland-based Al Andalus Ensemble explores the confluence of East and West cultures. Moroccan-born Tarik Banzi, with wife Denver-born Julia, both internationally trained musicians, soulfully merge classical, jazz and contemporary music with musical traditions from the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
