Her, uh, son-- well, my great-grandmother, her son gave it to her when he was, I think, 11 years old.
So we said somewhere around the '50s.
GUEST: Um, and it was passed down to my grandpa when she passed away.
GUEST: And so my grandmother's had it in her-- my mamaw's had it in her possession ever since.
APPRAISER: Oh, that's great.
GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: Yeah, no, the obviously cookie jars, super, super common in American art pottery from this time period.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: They're probably made sometime in the late 1940s, early 1950s.
Okay.
This, ostensibly, we're just going to call this a baby elephant.
GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: You know, it's like sometimes the answers are obvious.
I-I can guarantee you, though, there is someone out there who will know the exact name of this and the exact place that it was made in.
That's why we do this on the ROADSHOW, we love to see things we don't know.
Uh, probably about $50 or $75, that kind of thing.
GUEST: Okay.
Yeah.
Priceless to the family.
APPRAISER: I- I found a similar one that sold for about... GUEST: Yeah APPRAISER:...$60 just recently, so.
GUEST: Okay.
Perfect.
APPRAISER: Hey.
GUEST: Well, she's cute.
APPRAISER: Take home, fill it up with cookies.
GUEST: Yeah.
(laughs)
