MYA (VOICEOVER): Full Time Kid, with Mya.
Hi, I'm Mya.
Today we're harnessing the power of the sun, sun, sun, sun.
We'll be using the sun's heat.
But instead of using it to charge our superpowers, we're going to use it to make a gooey, delicious treat.
Today we will be making a solar cooker.
A solar cooker captures and contains the heat from the sun.
And today, we'll be using it to make our favorite camping treat, s'mores.
To make a solar cooker you will need a cardboard box, some aluminum foil, clear plastic wrap, a pair of scissors, a glue stick, tape, and some construction paper.
For the s'mores you will need graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate.
But let's save that for later.
First, make sure your box is clean.
Next, cut a square in the flap of the lid about two inches from the edges, but keep one side intact.
This will act as a hinge.
You may need an adult's help.
Cut the aluminum foil to fit around the inside bottom of the box.
Apply glue to the bottom of the box and press the aluminum to the box.
Measure and cut the aluminum foil to fit the inside flap that was cut at the beginning.
Use glue to keep the foil in place.
Use the clear plastic wrap to cover the inside of the box flap hole.
Tape it in place, but be sure not to tape the flap down.
Measure and cut a piece of black construction paper.
That should be around 1 to 2 inches smaller than the bottom of the box.
Place the black construction paper in the middle and on top of the bottom foil.
Use tape to keep the square in place.
The lid should be propped open to catch the sunlight and direct it into the box.
Next, find a nice spot that will get direct sunlight for the next 15 to 30 minutes.
Place your s'mores on top of the black construction paper.
Close the lid, but keep the flap open to let the sunlight in.
And now we wait.
Ding.
Let's take a look.
[gasp] Perfect.
Mm.
MALE: Keep those handy.
Now, remember, this solar cooker is designed for smaller snacks and it won't cook bigger items like a normal kitchen.
OK. That's our show.
Thanks for watching.
Bye-bye.
Hi, I'm Mya.
Today we're going to-- I can't stop.
Oh.
It fell.
MALE: Can we get a napkin?
It dripped all over my face.
