Alex Massa and his trio perform on Jazz Nightly at the Black Hills Studio.
Trumpeter/composer Alex Massa grew up in Rapid City and is now based in Chicago. He was back home for a series of shows with his Chicago trio in late March and they stopped by the SDPB Rapid City studios for a live performance on Jazz Nightly. Massa’s band includes drummer Isaiah Spencer and bassist Anton Hatwich. Also joining the group for a few songs was pianist Andrew Huot.
