First ever episode of "Grantchester."
Wow, I remember that location like it was yesterday.
- Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr.
Chambers.
Inspector Keating.
- And that wasn't in the script, the way Geordie looks the vicar up and down.
What on earth is a vicar doing in a police station?
Why is he here?
The lighting looks amazing.
- Murder?
- Yes, Inspector.
- So that hasn't changed throughout the series, our production value.
- You have a source?
- An anonymous source.
- Anonymous?
- Looks fantastic.
What's really amazing, a lot of people don't know, I was never meant to be in this show, and neither was James.
We weren't cast in it.
It was only very late in the day because of circumstances, we both ended up in this series.
- Murky waters you're sticking your toe into, Mr.
Chambers, I'd steer well clear if I were you.
- And I remember doing this scene, because I was so nervous, 'cause it was the first scene where the two of them start talking about an investigation and working each other out, and it was the start of a beautiful friendship and an extraordinary journey.
What has changed from then till now?
Well, in terms of vicars, they're still very charismatic, handsome.
What really hasn't changed is the look of "Grantchester."
That production value is still very high.
But I think what has changed in episode one and in series one, the character Geordie Keating, certainly doesn't want a vicar interfering in any kind of investigation.
But now 11 years on, Detective Inspector Geordie Keating has a thing for vicars.
