(audience cheering) (guitar tuning) Just making sure my guitar's in tune.
This one's called tuning, this song here.
We tune because we care.
All right.
We're getting ready to release a new album in six days time.
And it's a gospel album.
I've never recorded a full gospel album before, but I'm excited.
I grew up listening to old time country music and bluegrass music, mainly in my granddaddy's Bronco truck.
We were driving around and he had that old Bronco that was like two-tone, like red and white.
You guys remember the one from like the eighties, nineties?
And I used to listen to the Grand Ole Opry with my granddad every weekend.
And that's how I fell in love with bluegrass and country music.
And my parents, they weren't a big fan of bluegrass and country music 'cause it was what their parents listened to, you see?
So they raised me on Heart and Pink Floyd and Deep Purple.
Diesel, Diesel.
And Diesel, yes.
I introduced Cody to a guy named Diesel this week.
He's like all about it.
An Australian singer songwriter.
But, so I had a nice mix.
But my granddad is the reason that I play music, and he's about to turn 90.
Wow.
And I got to see him about five weeks ago, which was awesome.
But he asked me about a year ago, he's got a aneurysm in his brain and a clot in his heart so they can't treat one without making the other worse.
And he said to me, he said, "Can you do me a favor, Kristy?"
I said, "Oh, what's that, Pop?"
And he goes, "Could you sing this song at my funeral?"
And I said, "No."
Yeah, I can be there.
I can be there but I can't sing.
And I felt really bad saying no to him 'cause, you know, he's my Pop, and I love him, but there's just no way in the world I could do that.
So this is his favorite hymn and it's my favorite hymn.
And I recorded it on the gospel album for him.
And I got to take it home five weeks ago and give him a copy of it.
I said, "I can't sing it at your funeral, Pop, because you're not gonna die.
You're gonna live forever.
But I did record it for you so you can listen to it any day you want."
So, well, this is on the gospel album, and you'll all know it I'm sure.

We (indistinct).
Us bluegrass musicians, we sing about all the topics.
We sing about drinking, cheating, lying, killing, love.
And then we make up for all of the sins in the other songs by singing our gospel songs.
