More than 200-thousand children across the state are being raised by someone other than a parent. It’s often a grandparent who steps up to raise a child when a parent can’t. Many find they have to stretch a fixed income even farther, and now, they also have to become teachers as COVID-19 is forcing children to stay home from school.
